This morning there was a strange problem, Users when trying to send emails are getting bounce back that mailbox they are trying to send is disabled:
Error:
#554-5.2.1 mailbox disabled 554 5.2.1 STOREDRV.Deliver.Exception:AccountDisabledException.MapiExceptionMailboxDisabled; Failed to process message due to a permanent exception with message Cannot open mailbox /o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group.
when i checked the Active directory all users are not disabled, so i tried with login from webmail but still saying your mailbox is disabled. i noticed that all these users are on same database.
Solution:
Run the following command from Exchange powershell:
Clean-MailboxDatabase databasename
after running this command all emails are working fine

I have exchange 2010 in DAG environment it fixed for me.
Thank you very much. Worked for me
Thanks this works! On a side note, this can be done with the DB mounted. Also please note, this nightly cleanup is done during maintaince schedule windows (which for us is 1am-5am; but the user couldnt wait).
This fix worked for me. We had an improper shutdown and several users began experiencing this. Ran the Clean-MailboxDatabase command fixed this for me.
Thanks a lot.
